The objective was to create a high-end commerce site that featured high-end (e.g. Gucci, Prada or Dior) brands alongside middle-end brands (e.g. Dockers, The North Face or Levi's). The site is designed to be simple and informative providing a high-end purchase experience.

Spending countless hours and weekends with then creative director of SarkissianMason, Matthew Schneider, we researched usability and other commerce sites to identify best/worst practices in the online shopping experience. We created over fifty original template pages with some very interesting and creative uses of javascript to add to the fluidity of the experience.

The StressEraser is an award-winning, handheld relaxation-training device, able to provide effective relief from chronic stress at the physiological, mental, and emotional level. It costs a fraction of scientific-grade biofeedback systems and is the first machine discrete enough to be used in public.

Tasked to create a package design that was “Apple-like” for the medical device as well as allow the product to be visible to some degree. It also had to make the product seem worth its price point.

The design criteria is reached by printing on a plastic sleeve that slips over a foam center that hold the product. There are two pieces of foam that are fitted, which when opened also reveal the product guide and warranty information. The material change provides a contrast in textures that gives the package a high-end feel, coupled with the simple clean layout brings and customer interaction, give it the “Apple feel”.

As part of a pitch to ESPN by SarkissianMason, we were hired by and collaborated with Matthew Schneider to design a web site concept that mimicked the magazine itself. We used the large masthead to leverage the magazine's presence online, and in keeping with the magazine style we leveraged the colors, typography and graphic textures. The end result is a simple, easy to read online version of the magazine.

Elements of this design direction were selected for the final implementation, but due to existing back end technologies, everything couldn't be implemented as designed, however the integrity of the design remained.

The Alleghany Corporation is a no-nonsense conservative financial institution with a tagline that says it all “Conservatism dominates our philosophy.” They shun investment fads and fashions in favor of acquiring relatively few interests in basic financial and industrial enterprises that offer the potential to deliver long-term value to the investor.

Working with Matthew Schneider we honored Alleghany's philosophy of financial value we developed a web site design that is clean, sophisticated, and trustworthy—mirroring their financial philosophy.

Brand Idenity System, Web Site

As a part of the frogdesign brand team, I had the opportunity to work on the redesign of the frogdesign identity.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/cargo frogdesign 1.jpg" width="640" height="420" width_o="640" height_o="420" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/cargo frogdesign 1_o.jpg" data-mid="3490107" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/cargo frogdesign 2.jpg" width="640" height="420" width_o="640" height_o="420" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/cargo frogdesign 2_o.jpg" data-mid="3487815" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/cargo frogdesign 3.jpg" width="640" height="420" width_o="640" height_o="420" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/cargo frogdesign 3_o.jpg" data-mid="3487816" border="0" align="left"/>
The stationery system design is an informative layout driving people to the website to view the work. A nod to its history, the simple and subtle reference to the legacy “frog” icon appears on the back of the cards.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/frogdesign_1.jpg" width="640" height="487" width_o="640" height_o="487" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/frogdesign_1_o.jpg" data-mid="3487777" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/frogdesign_2.png" width="640" height="487" width_o="640" height_o="487" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/frogdesign_2_o.png" data-mid="3487720" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/frogdesign_3.png" width="640" height="487" width_o="640" height_o="487" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/frogdesign_3_o.png" data-mid="3487723" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/frogdesign_4.png" width="640" height="487" width_o="640" height_o="487" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718897/frogdesign_4_o.png" data-mid="3487725" border="0" align="left"/>
The website is designed to display the projects prominently upon arrival to the site and allows quick access to case studies. It carries the same characteristics of the stationery system in its simplicity of the information as well as use of the core green color and legacy “frog” icon, which becomes a common theme throughout various brand components.

This is one of my favorite and most interesting projects.

Our team spoke with industry executives and golfers of every skill level to identify the core attributes of the Titleist brand. We located three defining features, areas of expertise that set this company apart from its competitors: precision, performance, and heritage.

Working alongside the product designers, I was tasked with designing the brand components for the 695 irons. I chose to use a modern, yet classic serif font paired with a sporty sans serif for the club name and finish. The typography reflects the precision and performance attributes coupled with the classic brand of Titliest. The deep red color adds a touch of bold contrast to the chrome and black. The design has been made to fit both the muscle and cavity back irons.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718880/cargo titleist2.jpg" width="640" height="408" width_o="640" height_o="408" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/56239/718880/cargo titleist2_o.jpg" data-mid="3496652" border="0" align="left"/>

The reaction from Titleist has been exceedingly positive, as has the response from the consumers themselves. The irons have been picked up by golfers across the world, from amateurs to those on the pro circuit. Within play, our irons have consistently proven their worth: Arron Oberholser earned his victory in the PGA AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am with the 755 irons, and both Adam Scott and Ernie Els used the 695MB at the Barclays Singapore Open, in which they took first and second places, respectively.

While working at frogdesign I worked on extending the Maxtor design strategy beyond the hardware, into every aspect of the user experience. We did this by bringing connections between lifestyle and product through the use of imagery and narratives that pair user needs—professional, artistic, and family-oriented—to device.

In developing the new package design, Maxtor tasked us with creating a more “Apple-like” experience. We were also to make sure the design language worked on a global level (both environmentally and shelf presence). The final criteria was to make sure the costs were lower or equal to the previous packaging.

Working alongside Phoebe Ng, we researched a wide variety of structures and materials, as well as global best practices. We then created structural sketches and package designs per structure. Once a direction was selected we created the entire brand system—from packaging to collateral and presentations. Our process is illustrated below.

The new package reduces long-term production costs and time to market for iterative products, while securing a new level of visual unity for the brand. The design language better defines the Maxtor identity for its consumers: personal, simple, reliable data protection.

This is achieved through a product specific sleeve that slips over a generic box. The design system is flexible enough to effectively inform globally.

Building upon the web site design by Matthew Schneider, for the Hunt’s site design pitch, we worked together to create branded products and ads. The design for the packaging and ads is based on the existing web site design’s visual cues.

Along with Matthew Schneider, we created this simple packaging solution for Pink Steel’s debut CD. Since budget was of concern, we designed a simple package that was process oriented—using a glossy foil stamp treatment of the type, contrasting paper texture, color and typography this CD sleeve held the essence of the Motley Crüe meets Mary Poppins.

About the band
PINK STËËL make heavy metal gay, and gay heavy metal funny as hell—blurring the lines between music, comedy, Motley Crüe and Mary Poppins to create a fabulous, fist-pumping arena rock concert experience that will leave you singing tunes like "We Fight For Cock" "I'm Comin' Out (All Over You)" and "Sausage Party" for days--whether you want to or not.

Their crossover comedy-rock cabaret co-mingles gay culture and heavy metal bluster with punch-line songwriting—giving every audience front row seats to a stadium-style rock show unlike any other.
